PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This remote, off-grid project located within California’s Mojave National Preserve consisted of demolition of an existing modular home, new construction of a 3,600 square foot single story quad-plex residence building and a separate battery/inverter building. The residence building was a design-build post tension foundation, wood framed with and EIFS exterior, with two units being ADA adaptable and compliant. The battery and inverter storage building was a CMU structure and photo-voltaic arrays were installed atop a steel carport structure and provide permanent power to this off-grid facility. The system also includes a back-up generator system. Underground water service connections were made to an existing well head as well as a septic system. Extreme cold weather construction methods were utilized during winter months due to the high elevation of this remote site.
