The Wetlands Nature Center, constructed in the middle of the Wetlands Preserve, consists of a 30,000 sf facility supported on 178, 77’-0” concrete piers that elevate the building 10’ above the preserves natural grade. With existing groundwater present at 3’ from grade, an extensive dewatering system was utilized to allow for drilling, reinforcement and concrete placement of piers. The steel structure included large glass window walls, EIFS and metal siding and roofing with metal framed interior partitions creating offices, meeting rooms, common spaces and restrooms. The building includes an elevator, full onsite and offsite utility infrastructure improvements including a sewer lift station. The site is finished with an automatic irrigation system and complete landscaping which preserves the delicate balance of nature. B & H Construction Inc self performed the concrete, framing and Metal Walls and Roof systems in the construction of this Project.
